I am getting ready to start decorating my house for Halloween!  It is one of my favorite holidays and I figure since we are halfway through September already, why not start bringing out the fall decorations?!

I needed something to fill a frame and so I just made a Halloween themed subway tile art print that I can pop into a frame!  I thought I’d share with you all!  I have two sizes below 8 x 10 and 5 x 7.  If for some reason you would need larger, let me know and I can add that one also!  Just click on the image size below and you can download for free!

I Spy Bingo!

Whenever you have to spend more than 15 minutes in the car, with kids, you know you better come prepared!  If you can remember, I talked about Michael and his 8,973,672 questions he asks in the car.  If he asks you a question, and doesn’t like the answer, he will ask that SAME question, OVER AND OVER again until you give him an answer he is comfortable with.  (It took me a few times to figure this out)  He does not accept “Because that’s just how it works”,  “Because that’s just what happens” or “Because I said so” as acceptable answers.

Michael:  “Mom, why is grass green but dirt is brown?”

Me: “Because that’s how it was made to look”
(few second pause while he thinks about your answer)

(Insert annoying “incorrect buzzer sound”) WRONG!

Michael: “Mom, why is grass green but dirt is brown?”

Me:   “Because they are different things so God made them with different colors so we can tell them apart”
(few second pause while he processes that information)

(Insert annoying “incorrect buzzer sound”) WRONG!

Michael:  “Mom, I know grass is green and dirt is brown so we can tell the difference, but WHY are they different?”

Me: BANGING HEAD AGAINST STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE THIS IS MINUTE 28 OF THE QUESTIONS AND I CAN’T TAKE ANYMORE!!!!
So I answer how any Chemical Engineering mother would answer, “Michael grass and most other plants are green because they contain a pigment known as chlorophyll.  Dirt is brown because there is about three times as much carbon in soil than in plant biomass. “

(much longer pause)

Michael: “But Mom, why is the Dirt Brown”  He says the words “Dirt” and “Brown” S-l-o-w-l-y, if in fact I didn’t understand what he was asking me.

And this is where I calmly and collectively THROW THIS DAMN BINGO CARD INTO THE BACK SEAT AND SAY

“NO MORE QUESTIONS!!!!!  FIND THE THINGS ON THE CARD!!!!!”

Along with the exceptional knack of question asker, Michael can also remember EVERY make of car and furthermore, WHO drives each make.  “Daddy drives a Ford like Grandpa P & Uncle Buddy.  Grandma drives a Chrysler, Nicole drives a Mazda and so on and so on.

I started off making a basic BINGO board in PSE and for the Car Bingo side I added all the different makes of cars.

On the flip side, I made a Road Trip Bingo and added things you would find along the highway.  I added the license plates of the 3 states Michael has lived in  (and recognizes) as well as some construction equipment because let’s face it…there is ALWAYS highway construction going on!

I had my good friends at Office Depot print these cards back to back on a single piece of cardstock and then laminate it on 5 mil laminate.  You can do this all on your own at home if you have the tools.  Me, I am a new SAHM and haven’t acquired all the gadgets yet.  (Feel free to send me a Silhouette if you are in the giving mood 🙂 )

I used some adhesive velcro and wrapped the loop side around a dry erase marker and the hook side to a clip board.  I then used a make-up foundation applicator sponge as an eraser!  I attached that also using adhesive velcro and wah-lah…Bingo in the car!  Combines two great games, “I Spy” and “Bingo”  And finally…silence…until Ryan wakes up that is!

Let Him Sleep…

I simply adore the wall vinyl that reads “Let Him Sleep, For When He Wakes, He Will Move Mountains”  However we are renting so I don’t want to purchase one, only to have to throw it away later on.  Most say they are repositionable but not reusable, and some say may cause damage to textured walls or not adhere to textured walls well.   Not only are we renting, we have textured walls.  So, I did as any DIY’er would do…I made my own on PSE and framed it for Ryan’s room!

You can remember how I rambled on about not having decorated a nursery and might remember me saying  I would do the best I could with the renting and budget situation.  I am happy with it!  I used a daily deal from Winkflash and got the 8×10 print for $0.75!  (I actually ordered 3 separate 8×10’s and (1) 5×7 and with shipping my total was only three dollars and some change!  Rock on!  I used a frame I already had with a matte I already had, to size it down to 8 x 10.

I am using Orange, Turquoise, Yellow and Lime Green for color inspirations for Ryan’s room.  We have a dark beige color on the walls so I chose to go bright with the background.  I also changed up the colors on a few copies, so if the colors work for you, feel free to print them out for free!!  Just click on the photos below and download away!  If you like this printable, think about subscribing to my blog or following my page on facebook!  You never know, I might have something else you will like also! 🙂

Daily Do’s

Now that I am staying at home I have realized that I have no order in my day.  None at all.  Somedays, I don’t even know what day it is!  I like order.  I need order.  Well as much order as one can get with 2 little boys.  I am forgetting things too.  OH YES, FREDDY, I CERTAINLY DID REMEMBER THAT INSURANCE GUY IS COMING OVER AT 5:30. (look at the clock and it is 5:15)  THAT’S WHY THE HOUSE LOOKS LIKE THE JOPLIN TORNADO HIT HERE.  I wanted it to look like that.  You know, because I remembered that he was coming over!  SOB!  Good thing we have big closets!

Oh yea, and sorry if you wrote me an email about 2 weeks ago and never got a reply from me.  A phone call will probably be your best bet if it is about something important!  (Well as long as it is charged)  I meant to reply to you and even started an email and then NO! THAT DOES NOT GO INTO THE VCR RYAN!  And then I tried again but MICHAEL YOUR SCOOTER IS NOT AN INSIDE TOY…even if you are wearing your helmet!  So yea…no reply for you, maybe tomorrow! Again, don’t hold your breath.

Not only am I lacking a bit of needed order. I am lacking a bit of needed “me time”. I am totally guilty of putting anything on my to-do list that is for ME at the absolute very end of my list of things to do. Like so far back you are wondering if you are at the DMV…that far back. This needs to stop also. I need to remain sane in order to keep these kids alive.   I am not even talking about bon-bon’s and soap operas…I am talking about NECESSITIES like this Bert Unibrow I have going on that is not doing ANYONE any good!  Nor is the fact that I haven’t had my hair highlighted since Christmas…yes Christmas.  And Freddy even gave me that great GC to the spa for my birthday…like I rambled about here.  Yet, still haven’t actually gone to get it done…details.  I have no one to blame but myself.

So I am making an attempt to remember what day of the week it is, take some me time and for the love of all things pure and good–get my roots fixed!

If you know me, you know I LOVE lists.  What I love more is crossing things OFF the list!  So I decided to make myself a personalized Daily Do list to help me keep on track of things.  I left off things like “Feed the Kids” because they get mouthy when they get hungry so it’s hard to forget things like that.  (I do forget to feed myself though…shhh)

I even added a section specifically for me.  Because my motto is, if it’s on a list…it must be done so that it can be CROSSED OFF! (are you also sensing a bit of OCD here, yeah me too).  Even if that just means 15 minutes to myself during Ryan’s naptime.  PUT DOWN THE SWIFFER, SIT YOUR ASS ON THE COUCH WITH A MARGARITA ICED TEA, AND READ THAT DAMN COOKING LIGHT MAGAZINE THAT HAS BEEN SITTING ON THE COUNTER FOR 4 MONTHS ALREADY.    The featured spring vegetable is already long gone for pete’s sake and the breakfast that Ryan threw on the floor will still be there when you get done!  But now after reading your magazine, maybe you will have a better idea for dinner besides tacos or frozen ravioli.  See?!  Doing something for myself can really benefit the WHOLE family 🙂

Sooooooo…..if you need a list for yourself, feel free to print it out.   Happy Listing!  (or Happy Crossing off the Listing if you are like me!)

And for the record…I really do love this madness.  All of it!  Even the stuff I forget and this unibrow is kind of growing on me…literally 🙂
