Our Three Year Anniversary

Today is our three year wedding anniversary!  I had so much fun on our wedding day.  Best party I ever threw!  I wish we could get married again each year…but without paying for it again!  Oh to party like that again would be wonderful!  Did I ever tell you that I did a rope swing at my reception?  Like in my dress and everything?  Well, I did!  Here is proof!  That is my sister next to me!

That lady thought I was on drugs! "You're gonna swing in that dress???"

We had our reception in Architecture Hall at The City Museum in St. Louis.  If you ever get to St. Louis you HAVE to go there.  One of the coolest places on earth!  They have a 7 story slide which I am sure every member of my wedding party went down!  They also have a 2 story one and my Great Aunt even went down that one!

I’ll give you a photo recap of our wedding day and how we spent our first and second anniversary, in case you were curious!

2008:  Wedding Day!  We lived in MN but got married in my hometown of St. Louis, MO.  We had some of our wedding pictures taken in the new Busch Stadium and also with my good friend, the Arch!

2009:  I surprised Freddy by renting a Harley (We used to own one but sold it shortly after Michael was born).  We took the bike on a trip to Red Wing, MN which is where we got engaged.  We ate at the same restaurant to celebrate our 1 year anniversary.

2010:  Freddy took me on a weekend trip to Duluth, MN.  We walked along lake Superior, went bar hopping, took naps (ahhh sleep! Ryan was just 2 months old!) and got all dressed up and had a wonderful dinner at the hotel’s spinning restaurant!

And now we are celebrating our Third Anniversary!  I bet he is starting to wonder what he was thinking asking me to marry him!!!

Happy Anniversary Babe!

And That’s What Che Said…

Welcome to the Family Part 2

Well last time in “Welcome to the Family” I introduced you to everyone living in my house.  Well now it’s time to introduce you to my clan whom are not living with me.  Freddy has two older daughters, from his earlier days.  If you happened to read my “About” page, you will recall that I compare my life to the show Modern Family.   So in addition to a husband who is 18 years older than me, I have two step-daughters that are 29 and 25 (26 in like 2 weeks) and one daughter’s girlfriend who is 30 (31 in a few weeks).  Yep!  They are MY AGE!  But don’t you worry your pretty/handsome little head…we have some fun with it!

Meet Nicole.  Kevin’s oldest daughter.  Turns out, she happens to be one of my best friends!  I know right?!  She was a bridesmaid in my wedding and I honestly can tell her anything.  There is only ONE thing on this great big planet that she and I do NOT talk about and that is…well…her DAD is my husband…so we don’t talk about anything related to the lovin’.  A.  Gross, for her, it’s her DAD and B. Gross, for me, it’s her DAD!   Otherwise I can and do, tell her just about anything!  Michael and Ryan just adore her!

Meet Marie.  Nicole’s girlfriend.  We love her, even though she is a CUBS fan (BLAH!) She can make some mean play-doh cars for Michael.  You will never find her with a green shirt on and blue eyeshadow!  She color coordinates and has more eyeshadow than Cover Girl.  She will redo her makeup if she changes shirts…cracks me up!

Meet Ann.  Kevin’s youngest daughter.  I send her a steady supply of Tide Spot Sticks as she is quite the “spiller”.  She appreciates it, as I often get a text every few weeks telling me that stick saved her again!  Glad to be of help!

Nicole and I get a big kick out of our age difference…or lack there of.  We were together shopping and while at the check out Nicole was digging through her purse for some gum.  The store clerk said, “Are you two sisters?”  Without even looking up from her gum search, she says all nonchalantly and casual, “No, she is my step-mom.  She married my dad” not even giving the clerk a glance or any indication that Nicole herself should find this weird.  I on the other hand was soaking in the pure SHOCK on the clerks face!  The clerk looked at me then and I just pointed to myself and said “Evil Step Mother”.  Love it!  We play it up quite often.  We enjoy the fun!  I mean you have to when your baby brother is 27 years younger than you!

And here is a cute picture of all “My” kids at Christmas this year.  We live in 3 different states between us all and July in Colorado (family picture above) and this picture from Christmas are the only times, I believe, we have all been together at the same time!  Kind of crazy too!

Dates to Remember

I can’t take credit for this idea.  I saw it on Pinterest!   If you haven’t realized my love for Pinterest yet…let me tell you, I LOVE PINTEREST!  You can follow me and all my pins here or you can click on the “P beaker = {Follow Me on Pinterest}” button in my sidebar (more on those fun buttons later!)    If you need an invite to this awesome site, send me your email address and I will be happy to invite you!  You can leave your address in a comment below or email it to me at thatswhatchesaid {at} hotmail {dot} com.

So here is my pin from Pinterest:

She made hers with a Silhouette, but like I talked about before, I don’t have all the fun gadgets yet, so I made mine on PSE and printed it off using a Winkflash Daily Deal.  If you don’t have access to Photoshop, you could also use Picnik, which is a free software.  You can choose which ever dates are important to you!  I love this idea.  It’s abstract but personal all at the same time.  I love multi tasking 🙂    Here is mine!

And here is what it looks like printed, framed and hung on the wall.

I will upgrade to a larger, matted frame soon, but for now this is what I had on hand and I love it.  Now my husband has no reason to forget our important dates!  We’ll see if it works!

Welcome to the Family

Let’s start with introductions, shall we?  We will keep this post just about my immediate household.  We have to leave more fun for later, right?

Here are the loves of my life all on one couch cushion!  Freddy, Michael and Ryan. The boys are camera shy today!

Freddy loves basketball, the Minnesota Vikings and sweets!  I bake cookies in my house and they “disappear” within an hour!  He is the kindest man I have ever met in my life with the biggest heart.  He has the worst camera face.  I rarely ever get a good picture of him, the one above and below are of the lucky few!

On the opposite spectrum, Michael is the most photogenic kid I have ever met!  He always looks cute!  He is just amazing.  He reads, loves letters and LOVES his baby brother.  His dark brown eyes swallow my heart!

Speaking of eyes, I get the best of both worlds as Ryan’s baby blues just suck me in whole!  He LOVES his big brother and tries desperately to keep up with Michael.  He is independent and chunky and I love every roll on him!

Thumper is my soon-to-be 11-year-old dog.  He is a mutt.  Shar-pei/Lab mix.  He is my college dog and was always a great friend to me.  He stinks like no dog ever has.  Do you remember Phoebe from FRIENDS?  Her song about a smelly cat?  well Smelly dog is Thumper’s theme song!

Murphy was Freddy and My first child!  We got Murphy together.  Freddy hates to admit it, but getting Murphy was his idea!  Murph is part gazelle/deer/feline.  I’m not sure there is a brain in his head but he sure is a loving dog!  He doesn’t smell like Thump but he sheds!  A LOT!  He loves to be outside and really would be happiest on a farm.  (The real one, not the one referenced when speaking of a dead dog!)

And there we have it.  My household of boys!
